Cornhole Championship Held in Terry

Forty-Eight Teams, in front of approximately 400 spectators vied for the Montana State Cornhole Doubles Championship Saturday at Murn Park in Terry, Montana. After five hours of play the team of Darwin Strobel of Fallon, Montana and Dan Thomas of Hobson, Montana defeated Larry and Stephanie Keltner of Terry for the Championship. Strobel and Thomas won five games on the way to the Championship including a last toss, one point win over Team Thunder of Terry, Montana in the third round. The Keltner team advanced to the finals after a first round bye and then winning four very close games including a very hard fought semi-final win over the team of Shayne Jonas of Miles City and Nathan Christofferson of Terry. Third Place was captured by the Terry team of Jim and Cody Ross, with Fourth place going to the Terry team of Cody Leatherman and Fabian Pisk.
In State Participants from Helena, Manhattan, Miles City, Fallon, Hobson, Bozeman, Richey, and out of state teams from Washington, Texas, North and South Dakota as well as from Terry made up the 48 teams. The Second Annual Montana State Cornhole Doubles Championship is scheduled for July 28, 2007. The tournament will consist of the top 64 teams from across Montana and the upper Northwest.
